Car
Labelling

AME supports harmonised EU car labelling to improve transparency and comparability for new vehicles. However, it opposes extending mandatory physical labels to individual second-hand vehicles, as this would create disproportionate administrative costs with limited consumer benefit. A digital-first approach using tools such as QR codes is recommended.

Periodic Technical Inspection (PTI)

AME supports the revision of EU roadworthiness rules to strengthen road safety and environmental performance. It emphasises that inspections must remain affordable, efficient, and adaptable to national systems, while avoiding unnecessary complexity and disproportionate investment requirements.

CO₂ Standards for Cars & LCV

AME supports EU climate objectives and the transition to zero-emission mobility, while advocating for a pragmatic, technology-neutral approach. It highlights the need to consider market realities, support consumers, and include complementary solutions such as hybrid technologies, alternative fuels, and the used-car market in the transition.

Digital Omnibus & Automotive Digital Markets

AME supports the EU’s efforts to simplify and modernise digital regulation through the Digital Omnibus, while calling for a coherent and proportionate framework. It emphasises the need to ensure fair competition, avoid regulatory overlap, and protect SME-driven digital business models in the automotive ecosystem.
